Glimpse at the past.

The Image Shop and Shot Productions has been proudly serving its clients with photo and video for close to two decades. One must keeping in mind that this was most probably the most exciting time for photography development ever. It was during this era that digital photography was introduced, analog video changed over to digital video and just recently to high definition video.

Looking back one can’t help to feel humble to have been part of such an exciting development that came with its own challenges. We still remember very well, how it felt to do a wedding on film only. That nerve racking few days until you had the negatives in hand to give you an indication of what your work was like. During those days video editing was so limited, with analog VHS as its only media, but still we made so much with what we had to work with.

The Image Shop grew with the development in digital photography and after employing the newest and latest hard and software on the market we are happy to state that the investment has proven in the quality that we deliver to our clients.

In graphic designing we are at present employing the latest software in the Adobe Stables. Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended which incorporate Adobe Bridge and Light room are truly worth the name it carries as the most advanced in its field and it is a pleasure serving you as a client with all the additional options.

Being Nikon fans forever we came with them through all the phases. We truly enjoyed and still do the full range of their ragged film cameras from the F60, F100 all the way to the flagship F5. Being from the old school, Wouter is adamant that film will never be replaced by digital, and still enjoy the film series he is using to a day to day basis. Marzanné has gone the other rough and now boasting with her Nikon D300 her results is a challenge to Wouter’s theory that film will live forever. Weighing in at 12.3 mega pix the quality of her digital work is reaching new heights.

Video

We have just recently acquired Blu-Ray capabilities and although still a little bit ahead of the time, our motto hold true “I better to lead than to be lead”

Blu-ray, also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD), is the name of a next-generation optical disc format jointly developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), a group of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer and media manufacturers (including Apple, Dell, Hitachi, HP, JVC, LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, TDK and Thomson). The format was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data. The format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc. This extra capacity combined with the use of advanced video and audio codec’s will offer consumers an unprecedented HD experience. Recent development has pushed the storage capacity to 500GB on a single disc by using 20 layers.

While current optical disc technologies such as DVD, DVD±R, DVD±RW, and DVD-RAM rely on a red laser to read and write data, the new format uses a blue-violet laser instead, hence the name Blu-ray. Despite the different type of lasers used, Blu-ray products can easily be made backwards compatible with CDs and DVDs through the use of a BD/DVD/CD compatible optical pickup unit. The benefit of using a blue-violet laser (405nm) is that it has a shorter wavelength than a red laser (650nm), which makes it possible to focus the laser spot with even greater precision. This allows data to be packed more tightly and stored in less space, so it's possible to fit more data on the disc even though it's the same size as a CD/DVD. This together with the change of numerical aperture to 0.85 is what enables Blu-ray Discs to hold 25GB/50GB.

Blu-ray is currently supported by about 200 of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer, recording media, video game and music companies. The format also has support from all Hollywood studios and countless smaller studios as a successor to today's DVD format. Many studios have also announced that they will begin releasing new feature films on Blu-ray Disc day-and-date with DVD, as well as a continuous slate of catalog titles every month.

The Future

Who knows what is in store for us, us as a photographical company. This might sound very philosophical but I do.

We are only going to grow from strength to strength. We are going to keep on leading the market and be the bench mark against which all is going to measure their abilities. We are going to take the newest gift the digital world has given us, High Definition, and develop it to the point never before know to any of the markets we are serving. We are truly excited to tell you the future and live it with you for years to come.
